Yellow fall leaves

My Story

I felt terrible for most of my life.

By my late 20s, I had built a life that looked good on the outside (with accolades and academic degrees) but my insides and my personal life were falling apart.

So I started a daily yoga and meditation practice. And I started EMDR therapy. And my life changed/began.

You know that scene in Wizard of Oz where Dorthy walks out of her home and first enters Oz, the movie suddenly shifting from black-and-white to technicolor? That’s how I felt when I started to work through my PTSD - all of a sudden I could smell better and see better and even experience joy.

I grew intently focused on healing myself through daily yoga and meditation practices. In 2014, I trained in Kundalini Yoga with Krishna Kaur and later in trauma-informed yoga with Kyra Haglund. In 2017, I started teaching trauma-informed yoga workshops for sexual assault survivors and immediately understood that my life’s purpose is to hold space for healing.

In 2017, I worked with a group of sexual assault survivors to found Porchlight Wellness, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing trauma-informed trainings and healing yoga workshops for sexual assault survivors.

In 2022, I launched my a private yoga therapy practice so I can work one-on-one with people who need and want emotional, physical, and/or spiritual support.

I’m not a finished product. And I love learning. I have a law degree (JD), a master’s degree in education (MAEd), experienced yoga teacher (E-RYT) certification, and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) certification. I intend to be learning and training for the rest of my life.

"I am so grateful to Halli for her kindness and loving guidance, and for the tools that I now have to help navigate my life."
